General Planning
Different kinds of coffee, a large variety of mixtures and highly attractive packaging are the requirements of an up-to-date and competitive coffee presentation on the shelves of modern outlets. In order to avoid any gaps in their racks, automated handling and high-performance packaging lines guarantee flexibility and an ability to deliver at all times. In order to optimise these procedures it was necessary to do something about the existing shortage of space, i.e. the storage capacities had to be extended urgently. Another task, however, had an even higher priority:
A change in the system of internal transportation ways
This was meant to facilitate and accelerate the work. Along with the expansion of the existing high rack warehouse by an additional 3.000 palette storage spaces, a new area for the receipt of goods with a loading bay, offices and laboratories had to be created. The comprehensive conveyer technique was integrated into the planning from the very beginning. Moreover, it was important to adjust the entire building to the automated transportation of goods of the future. A further main emphasis of the project was placed on preventative fire protection. From the fitting of fire-resistant doors to the complete installation of a new fire sprinkling system - everything possible had to be done to prevent dangers of fire, thereby increasing the security of the building.
