In the Wittlich plant the existing production area had to be expanded. The task consisted of optimising the staff, material and production flows. In the future it should be possible to enlarge the new buildings without any restrictions. In a masterplan PUNKTEINS explained the expansion options and determined the various phases of the expansion of the production area.
For the additional employees new production lines and appropriate recreative facilities and canteen rooms had to be created. In this case, too, the property developer placed a great emphasis on a limited expansion possibility. An additional challenge was the combination of the existing production and administrative areas with the newly created production lines via a main staff entrance. During the planning a solution was developed in which a non-bearing roof construction of the existing production areas was built over. For the safeguarding of production the newly created building was equipped with an autarkic energy supply.
