The offices of the administration and the social rooms were housed together in a small flat-roof building in the Wittlich plant. With the fast expansion of the plant the administration had to be expanded and additional office room created. The task included the relocation of the social rooms as well as the expansion of office room in the existing flat-roof building. At the same time, the importance of the currently inconspicuous building as an administrative building in the middle of the factory site had to be made more visible.

Old recreation rooms were gutted and converted into new office rooms

Furthermore, along with the property developer the idea was developed to open the building up lengthwise in the middle in order to recombine the two parts by means of an inside courtyard including a representative glass reception area. The new inside courtyard floods the interior office areas with daylight and enhances communication and encounters. Additionally, the rooms were designed in a completely new way taking into account modern and functional aspects. Also the facade was fitted with a new design: Through optical improvement of the building and a conspicuous connection with the existing grounds the administration building was integrated into the plant.
