80.000 m³
For the modernisation of a gather-stitchery a new machine hall was necessary. On a surface of 7.500 m² this project was implemented inside the factory premises of Gruner + Jahr AG while business was going on.
The distance to the existing company building required by fire prevention regulations, was intelligently integrated with a covered areaway which also serves as a “tranquillity zone” for the staff as well. Furthermore, it offers the possibility to deliver bigger machines for the adjacent rotation hall.
The hall construction combined a new structure of the delivery and disposal station
This is necessary for the smooth running of the gather-stitchery. For that purpose the traffic planning for the lorries was adapted to the new situation. On the first floor of the gather-stitchery new office room was created. In the technical area on the second floor the comprehensive house automation equipment was accommodated. The floor conditions made it necessary to found half of the building on concrete pillows. Additionally, the positioning of machines in the gather-stitchery required special demands on the surface precision of the floor. Tolerances similar to machine construction were necessary.
Simultaneously to the new building the conversion of the existing rotation hall and the new design of the staff entrance were conducted. The planning for this comprehensive building project amounted to three, the entire construction time until opening by the property developer fifteen months.
