Driving into the city of Wittenburg two things strike you particularly: The listed mill and the food plant SternMaid GmbH. In 1998, still known as “Muehlenchemie” at the time, the development of the site started right next to the historic neighbouring building. The innovative, V-shaped layout of the floor plan facilitated the expansion buildings. Storage facilities, social rooms and production capacities were being expanded and retrofitted without any disruptions of the on-going business.

The packing area completed in 2005 meets the highest hygiene requirement

Specifications of the planning team not only included the International Food Standard common in the food industry but also the GMP regulations concerning good manufacturing practice and the requirements for a licence as a milk-processing plant.

Directly afterwards the warehouse for manufactured goods was expanded and provided with a narrow aisle high rack warehouse. The high rack warehouse necessitates a sprinkler system which successively has also been installed in the other areas of the plant.
